Approaches Used in Pest Control.
There is a particular public problem in the world which disturbs nearly everybody, and pests cause it. Crops undergrowth plantation and crops are destroyed by insects referred to as pests. Controlling of pests that disrupt health of human beings, destroy farm produce and vegetation is called pest control. Human health interference is done by some pests which are lice, mice and mosquitoes. Progressions in technology and science specialists have established several methods to get rid of the pests. Controlling pests have existed ever since agriculture began. Controlling of herbivores that compete with humans and types of weeds that compete with crops is necessary hence using pest control method. Pest management comprises of a number of steps to control pests. Various steps are, identify the kind of pest, and decide which method to use and lastly use the method to control the pest.
In biological method parasites predators which consume pests are in use, for example a cat is used to chase and eat rats and mice, this method is safe for human being and pets. Sealing of pet structures and inducing a concentrated gas like carbon dioxide to destroy the pests inhabiting the structures when pets have been moved to a different facility it is known as fumigation. Soil sterilization is effective methods of soil steaming thus pests inhabited in soil are killed by heat and suffocation. Repellents are non-toxic oils obtained from trees, for instance, rat repellent such as Balsam fir oil obtained from the tree for pest control. Planting some pest repellents plant is a biological method, for example, planting onion in a spinach farm to repel spinach pests.
Chemical method is a pest control method which uses insecticides, pesticides and herbicides to control pests. Space treatment is a method which uses misting or fogging applicators with liquid insecticides that are dispersed into the structures. Poisoning of rats using bait is known as poisoned bait. Spray method uses handheld sprayers to spray pests or structures contact with pests for illustration mosquitoes, weevils and other crop pests. Spraying cattle to destroy ticks is an example of pesticides sprayed.
There is no use of chemicals when using traditional methods to control pests and weeds. After harvesting some people burns the left overs of weeds hence controlling pests by destroying the eggs inhabited in them. When rats and mice inhabit homes and stores then traps are set to catch them. Purpose of each trap depends on its design. When you come across an infected crop or infested by pests, uprooting and burning of the crop to destroy pests is a way of controlling pests.
